In order to demonstrate Michigan’s compliance with the requirements of the federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA), the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services relies on juvenile detention summary reports from all facilities in Michigan that have the ability to hold juveniles in secure confinement for any length of time, including jails, law enforcement agencies, and juvenile detention centers.
To submit reports online, click the “online report” link that best matches your facility type. Then follow the prompts on screen to submit your monthly report information. If you have questions about any of the requested information, links to detailed item-by-item instructions are provided below for each facility type.
If you prefer not to use the online report option, you can access a fillable PDF form by clicking the “fillable form” link that best matches your facility. After entering your facility’s data, save or print the completed form. You can then email it to juvenilereports@publicpolicy.com; fax it to (517) 485-4488, Attention: Monthly Juvenile Summary; or mail it to Public Policy Associates, Inc., Attention: Monthly Juvenile Summary, 119 Pere Marquette, Suite 1C, Lansing, MI 48912-1270.
The Monthly Juvenile Summary for Municipal Locked Facilities should include entries for all juveniles detained in a locked area of your facility during the reporting period. Do not furnish information on juveniles held in unlocked areas or juveniles who temporarily pass through secure areas but are not locked, e.g., those who are in the facility for processing only.
The Monthly Juvenile Summary for Juvenile Facilities should include all juveniles, including delinquent offenders, status offenders, and non-offenders, held in a locked area of your facility during the reporting period.
The Monthly Juvenile Summary for County Jails should include entries for all juveniles, who have not attained their 17th birthdays, detained in a locked area of your facility during the reporting period. Do not furnish information on juveniles held in unlocked areas or juveniles who temporarily pass through secure areas but are not locked, e.g., those who are in the facility for processing only.
