The grant received by Berrien County will enable the court to implement the Parent Management Training – Oregon model program (PMTO), which is an evidence-based, structured intervention program designed to help parents strengthen families at all levels. This program is based on the idea that parents are the primary agents for change in their families. The program empowers parents by training them in skills designed to promote and sustain positive change in the family. The target population for those being served in this program will be youth ages 10 – 13, who are charged with a criminal offense or otherwise referred to the Berrien County juvenile justice system and present a moderate to high risk of offending.
